Our Role as Artists

In a world where indifference reigns and apathy invades peoples' lifes, should we not alert to
what is going on ?
Scenes like children starving would have a highly and schocking impact in the early eighties, but now they are so common on the TV that they seem to have lost it.
Through creative expression, should not artists have a more proactive attitude ?
And should we not educate our public and ourselves to become more aware ?
